Hailed as an energetic and profound, young conductor Debora WALDMAN, was one of the revelations of the Campos Do Jordao Music Festival in Brazil in the summer of 2007 leading performances of Donizetti's comic opera « Rita » to critical acclaim, prompting one critic to write about this production : "It is impossible not to note the tremendous work made by the conductor - Waldman guaranteed the vitality and the energy of the musical situations required by this opera with her clear and precise gesture". In 2008, Ms. Waldman was named "Revelation of Adami" – (Administration des Droits des Artistes et Musiciens Interpretes) in the category "Young Conducting French Talent of Today".
Debora Waldman was discovered by the Orchestre National de France and Maestro Kurt Masur in November 2005. Subsequently, she has conducted members of the Orchestre National de France in educational concerts in Paris as well as on tour in Athens and Amsterdam and has worked with the French cellist Xavier Phillips on Shostakovich's first cello concerto at Radio France. The concert was broadcast live on France Musique. Debora Waldman has collaborated on several projects with famous Maestros such as Kurt Masur, Sir Colin Davis and Krzystof Penderecki. In December 2009, Debora Waldman will conduct the Orchestre National de France once again for a special concert celebrating the Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos. She will be joined by acclaimed cellist, Antonio Meneses, and guitarist, Yamandu Costa.
Guest appearances include concerts with the Orchestra of the Pays de la Loire, the Orchestra Colonne, the Orchestra of Toulon's Opera, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra de Picardie, the Orchestra of Avignon's Opera, the Orchestra of Pau-Bearn and the Orchestra Lamoureux at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris.
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Debora Waldman accompanied her family to Israel in a Kibbutz where she lived until the age of 14. She then pursued her musical studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Universidad Catolica de Argentina becoming the only student in the history of this university to receive two gold medals both in orchestral conducting and composition. She then furthered her skills in Paris, France with Janos Fürst and at the Conservatoire Superieur de Musique (CNSM) with Francois-Xavier Roth and Michael Levinas. She currently lives with her husband in Paris.
