Norwegian conductor Rune Bergmann is quickly gaining a reputation as an inspiring and profound musician and is considered "one of the young conducting talents Norway has produced". Praised as a dynamic and versatile conductor with an extensive classical, romantic, operatic and contemporary repertoire he has conducted to date many European orchestras such as the Kuopio Symphony, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the symphony orchestras of Kristiansand, Trondheim, Karlskrona and Odense, and the orchestra of Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. In December 2010, Rune will make his debut with the Oslo Philharmonic.
No matter what musical style he conducts, whether classical or jazz, under Rune Bergmann's leadership the orchestras' interpretations are energetic, brilliant, engaging, powerful but also elegant and have received critical acclaim in his native Norway and abroad. Rune Bergmann is a specialist of the Nordic repertoire and has conducted numerous works by Sibelius, Nilsen, Svendsen, Halvorsen and Grieg. He also masters a large choral repertoire including two of his favorite requiems by Brahms and Verdi. Rune has worked with many different international soloists as Peter Jablonski, Jan Garbarek, Brazz Brothers, Haavard Gimse, Göran Söllscher, Staffan Scheja, Gunilla von Bahr, Haakan Hagegaard, Stig Nilsson, Haakan Hardenberger, Alexander Rybak, Bjarne Fiskum, Christer Johnsson, Peter Asplund. He has recorded several CD's on the lable Phono Suecia and Norilds including concerti and contemporary works by composers Staffan Odenhall, Magnar Aam and Richard Powell.
Rune Bergmann was born in Norway. He studied conducting at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Leif Segerstam and graduated with the highest honors. He furthered his studies in choir and orchestral conducting at the Royal University College of Music in Stockholm with professors Anders Eby, Jin Wang and Jorma Panula. Rune Bergmann is the proud recipient of the Stiftelsen Kjell Holm culture prize 2010, the "SMP" Aalesund newspaper 2009 prize and the 2nd prize of the Swedish conducting competition. He is guest professor in conducting at the university of Oslo.
